An ad creative is the part of an ad people actually see: the image or video plus the text on top. That's exactly what decides whether someone stops or scrolls past, which is why the same ad budget can perform so differently. Money alone doesn't get results. What you show with it makes the difference.
What exactly is an "ad creative"?
"Creative" is simply the advertising word for the visible content of an ad. It has two parts:
- The visual: the photo, graphic or video.
- The text: the headline and the lines beside it.
Think of it like a shop-window display: the budget is the rent for a good spot on the high street. But whether people stop depends on what's in the window. A great location with a dull display doesn't get you far.
Why does the creative beat the budget?
Because platforms like Instagram and Facebook reward what appeals to people. If your creative lands, meaning plenty of people stop, click and react, the platform shows it more cheaply and more often. A weak creative gets more expensive.
Simplified: better creative → more response → lower cost per click or enquiry. So you get more out of the same money, purely because what you're showing is better.
That's why the same amount can perform very differently for two businesses. The difference is the creative, not the budget.
Photo/video or a simple graphic: which do I use?
Each has its place. Here's the overview:
| Type | When it makes sense | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Static graphic | Offer, opening hours, clear info | Fast, cheap to make |
| Photo | Product, team, real place | Feels personal and genuine |
| Video | Show a process, emotion, attention | Highest attention in the feed |
UGC-style content ("user-generated content") often works especially well. That means content that looks as if a real customer filmed it on their phone: close, honest and unpolished. People trust that more than a slick commercial, because it doesn't feel like an ad.
With us, one shoot day produces a hero film plus several short cutdowns and a photo set. That's enough material to test over weeks rather than shooting fresh for every ad.
What does "no markup on your ad budget" mean?
Some providers take a percentage of your ad budget as a fee: the more you spend, the more they earn, regardless of results. We deliberately drop that.
With us, the ads run on your own ad account, and we add nothing on top of your media budget. If you pay €500 to promote, €500 goes to the platform. Not a cent leaks to us as a percentage markup. You pay us for the work (strategy, creatives, management), not for spending more on ads.
What does a good creative look like?
A few simple traits that almost always help:
- Clear in the first seconds. For video, the first 1 to 2 seconds decide it, or the thumb has moved on.
- Built for sound-off. Most people watch without sound, so captions or clear visuals are a must.
- One message. Not everything at once. One offer, one thought.
- Genuine over glossy. An honest phone video often beats the perfect commercial.
- A clear next step. "Book now", "See the menu": tell people what to do.
Why test, and what is "creative fatigue"?
Nobody knows for sure in advance which creative will perform best. So we test. A proven split: roughly 70% of budget on what already works, 30% on new things to try. That keeps you stable while still finding the next winners.
There's a catch: every creative wears out. Creative fatigue means the same ad performs worse and worse because the audience has seen it too often. At some point it becomes invisible to them. This is the single most common reason a campaign that started strong tails off over time. Fresh creative fixes this. A bigger budget doesn't. Which is exactly why the material from one shoot day pays off.
What does it roughly cost?
Two rough guides, always as a range. The actual numbers depend on industry, region and audience:
- Cost per click on Meta is often loosely around €0.90 to €1.20 (Meta ad ecosystem, ballpark, highly variable).
- Meaningful local test budgets often sit between €300 and €1,000 per month. That's enough to test reliably without burning money.
Read these numbers as a rough map, not a guarantee. We'll work out what fits your business together beforehand.
